FONTS & TYPOGRAPHY
Font families in the PUUF logo:
- Palatino Regular – “Palomar”
- Franklin Gothic Book Condensed “Unitarian Universalist Fellowship”
These are for reference only as they are not recommended for text outside of our logo.
Web font: The font in this website is “Source Sans Pro”, sans-serif” It is built into this website and is designed for the web, not for print.
For email and print materials: it is recommended to use standard sans-serif web fonts like Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, Franklin Gothic, or Futura. They are built into most computers, are well designed, legible, and classic popular fonts for print and web.
Other Typographical Info and Suggestions:
- Sans-serif fonts are usually more legible than serif for online communications. Some serif fonts can be good for longer text pages.
- Avoid decorative typefaces outside of headlines and don’t type in all caps with a font that is not designed for it!
- Typically not a good practice to type sentences in all caps except headlines and short phrases! Use bold, italics, and larger font sizes for emphasis.
- Do not type double spaces between sentences. That was for typewriters in ancient times—not computers.
- Do not underline type. That denotes that it is a link. When you create a link, the type will automatically be underlined.
