A Unitarian Universalist minister since 2005, Rev. Sarah Gibb Millspaugh has been a congregational leader, a denominational staffer, author, and curriculum developer. Her ministry is grounded in her lifelong involvement in Unitarian Universalism, her Jewish heritage, and her New England Unitarian Christian heritage, each of which calls her to be a tireless advocate for the worthiness and dignity of everyone.
Sarah brings a depth of experience in worship and preaching, pastoral care, justice organizing, anti-racism and multicultural transformation, conflict engagement, facilitation, teamwork, and trauma-informed care. Sarah served on the core team of The Mosaic: an online hub for Unitarian Universalists dismantling racism and oppression.
With Rev. Mr. Barb Greve, Sarah co-authored the chapter “Pastoral Care with Transgender People” in Injustice and the Care of Souls. She is the author of the Coming of Age Handbook for Congregations, the program that has guided a generation of Unitarian Universalist teens in understanding who they are in the world, and what they value, and co-authored Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Young Adults, Ages 18-35 , one component of the award-winning, LGBTQ+ affirming lifespan series.
Her leadership in UU faith communities began when she was 16 years old and she began organizing a local and regional youth group. Raised in the Midwest and West, she has spent her adult years in New England and California.

Sarah writes, “It is not my role as a congregational minister to tell people about what is broken in the world—they know that. Instead, my ministry fosters spaces for people to make meaning, build community, and find hope. I see my role as a vision-caster, someone who helps a community see who we are and direct our energies toward an authentic destination. I am a facilitator, someone who helps collective dreams emerge and come into being. Someone who helps people discover their own gifts and their own voices. I am a pastor, someone who cares for a people through illnesses, deaths, break-ups, growing up, coming out, marriages, and all of life’s joys and sorrows.“
