Check-In from the Minister
Minister’s Blog is Live
Our website now has a section for reflections and sermons from the minister! Check out the minister’s blog for the words from past worships and more.
Avoid Phishing Scams
Today several members of our fellowship received an email from someone pretending to be me, asking for a text conversation at a number that isn’t mine. This is likely someone who would draw you in to giving money or gift cards to them under false pretenses.
If you get email from me or any other staff or members of the Fellowship that seem “fishy” in any way or are asking for money, here are steps you can follow.
- Look at the sender’s email address, not just their screen name. In this case, it was “m…0245@gmail.com,” not mine! But sometimes fraudsters are more sophisticated, and manage to mimic the email address of the person they are impersonating.
- Check the phone number. That number in the email was not my number!
- If it still looks real, but it seems out of character for something I or PUUF would send, send a new email to me at my real address, or call/text me at my real number. Ask if I sent you a message.
- NEVER send money or gift cards before verifying that it’s not a scam.
Here’s a good guide to avoiding scams, from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
